5 tips to create your ultimate entry way

5 tips to create your ultimate entry way

THE DO'S AND DON'T OF CREATING YOUR PERFECT ENTRY WAY

Your entry way is often the last thing you see when you leave in the morning and the first thing you see when you come home. After a long day at work or even inviting guests in for dinner party- the last thing anyone wants to encounter is a cluttered pile of shoes. And if you care to dabble in the ancient art of Feng Shui your front door is consider the “mouth of qi” the place from which all opportunities, come in to our lives, the portal between the hustle and bustle of the world and your sanctuary. So here is House of Luna’s top 5 tips for creating the ultimate entry way to a happy and healthy home:

1. The Mirror

ANCHOR YOUR ENTRY WAY WITH A ROUND MIRROR

a. A round mirror softens the angular lines of the console table
b. It bounces and reflects light allowing the space to look bigger
c. It’s practical – you can check you are looking fab before leaving the house

Tip: Don’t place your mirror too high, the bottom of your mirror should be 15-20cm from your console table, the center of the mirror should match the center of your console table.

2. The Rug

ADD COLOUR WARMTH AND TEXTURE WITH A RUG

a. Ensure you match your rug to your overall interior – your entry way should flow naturally into the rest of your home
b. Make sure your rug is centered and has an equal distance between your console and adjacent wall
c. If you have a long hallway entrance use a runner over a smaller carpet and try and match it to the same length as the total hall way

Tip: We know you are creating the ultimate entry way, but do not spend a fortune on this rug – your entry way is a high traffic area and more easily prone to wear and tear, we love using jute rugs – looking for something a little more luxurious opt for wool – it’s durable and spot cleans easily.

3. The Accessories

SPARK INTEREST BY USING DIFFERENT HEIGHTS AND MATERIAL ON YOUR CONSOLE TABLE WITH THE 3 GOLDEN RULES

a. Radiance: Use lighting/ lamps to create vertical heights, warmth and ambience/ glass vases that the light will bounce off
b. Unique: Use piles of books that you love to create medium heights, we love coffee table books, luxury cooking and home décor books, ceramic ornaments or things you have collected on travels
c. Practical: Trays are great for lower heights and a great place to store keys and wallets , also add diffusers and room scents

Tip: Style ornaments in 3’s rather than twos, your eye is forced to move around more which makes it more visually appealing – group together on one side of your console to leave free space and avoid a cluttered look.

4. Plants and florals

BRING THE OUTDOORS IN

We love using olive branches, palm leaves and pampas pairing in a glass vase, it softens the look with texture and colour

Tip: Never have dead plants at your entrance way to ensure the best energy – if you are prone to not having green fingers -opt for something easy maintence.

5. Eliminate Clutter

KEEP IT CLEAN AND SIMPLE

Choose thoughtful furniture such as baskets or boxes which look beautiful but allow you to store things you may need in a tidy way

Final word – let your entry table evolve with you over time, you may decide to change pieces in and out, change the greenery over seasons or find an amazing piece on your travels that you want to add!
